#Withcaptions is a new hashtag that is starting to go viral on the internet via Facebook and Twitter as well as other social media platforms. The movement is about how YouTube has over one billion unique users a month (and counting) and how together as a world, we watch 6 billion hours of videos. However, the downside is that not all of the videos and information is accessible to everyone. There are well over 30 million people in the United States that sign American Sign Language and they are unable to hear what is being said in those YouTube videos.
This hashtag isn’t only for people in the United States…it is for everyone in the world. There are those who know BSL, ISL, and etc.
The call for #withcaptions is a call for you, content creators, and yourself, to change the way YouTubers connect with your audience and help make your videos accessible to even more viewers!
