Young, Deaf Woman wins Australian of Year Award get over 100K views

Ms. Drisana Levitzke-Gray, a fifth generation in her family who is deaf, won the Australian of the Year Award for her advocating for the Deaf Community, in which, she believed, “as one without borders and one of rich language, culture, history and traditions, and is the embodiment of the concept of ‘deaf gain’, not ‘hearing loss’.”.

In her acceptance speech, she is one of the only people to deliver her acceptance speech in Auslan, the language of the deaf community in Australia.
