Brunswick High School was evacuated Tuesday morning because of an irritant and odor in the air, a school spokesman said.

At approximately 11:50 a.m., the students were evacuated as a precautionary measure, Frederick County Public Schools spokesman Michael Doerrer said.

Doerrer said he was unsure what the irritant was, only that it was not smoke.

Both Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services and the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office was on scene, Doerrer said.

This story will be updated.
