Discussing a recent court settlement involving Jose Garcia and the Grandview School District in Yakima, Washington after Garcia was prevented from graduating high school due to years of warehousing and being denied adequate instruction because of his deafness. I also bring up Libby Lael’s “Deaf Beneath” to demonstrate audism and lack of specialized instruction for deaf and hard of hearing students in the classroom.
