Why did you become a vlogger?
Being a vlogger wasn’t what I intended to do. To start with I just did a piece about mental health problems and that was it. People started to subscribe to me and showing interest in my video and what I was going to do next.
What does it mean to you being a Deaf YouTuber?
There is very little accessible stuff out there for Deaf people. I like to be able to connect with people on all levels and being Deaf myself it enables me to reach people in similar situations. It is good to share my experiences and get feedback from others. I know how frustrating it can be when there are so few Deaf people that upload content.
You have a mass following on Twitter, how is it you are able to get over 36K followers?
Being myself, show the passion I have with the subjects I feel strongly about, using hashtags does make a huge different.
What is your goal with your YouTube channel? What message do you want your subscribers to understand about you?
I’m Deaf and i’m proud of it! I want to raise awareness about Deafness and that it doesn’t have to be such a massive barrier to life. I want people to to get out there, have fun and live their lives regardless of their abilities.
How would you describe your work style?
I am very much ‘freestyle’ and and adapt to get things done. I love opportunities to pull together with others and achieve great things.
Tell me about your proudest achievement.
I have achieved so much but find it difficult to pinpoint my proudest moment. I reserve judgement as I have so many things I would like to achieve.
Was there a person in your career who really made a difference?
My parents have really made a difference to me. They have always made me believe that I can achieve anything if I want it enough.
We noticed that you’re doing video everyday this month, what got you into that and what are you trying to accomplish?
I like to give regular posts so that I can build a good following. I really like the feedback i get and I think the best part for me is the interaction with others.

Same, no time for it! But in the past, I subscribed to .net web design magazine.

You have the choice to live with a gorilla who knows sign language or a dog who sings lullabies, which do you choose?
I would choose to live with a gorilla, because I would have someone to talk to! Dog who sings lullabies is a big no no as that would cause me so much tinnitus
What would you do if you won the lottery?
Pay off my uni loan. Buy a bigger House. Give some to family and good causes.

Rikki Poynter. Deaf vlogger.

What do you like to do for fun?
Apart from creating videos. I love to socialize and have family time with my fiancee and our girl.
