Making Any Character Deaf

Amanda gives one example of what a classic film character would look like if she was Deaf or one of the characters she communicates with in the story was Deaf.
I got home from an audition yesterday and felt the need to show people how any character in any show or film could easily be Deaf. So, in my free hour I learned a monologue and performed it 3 ways showing people what it looks like if you make Baby from “Dirty Dancing” Deaf or her father (who she is interacting with) Deaf. It doesn’t change the script, it doesn’t change the relationship and it doesn’t change the emotions of the character. This is true for any character. Any one of them could easily be portrayed by a Deaf actor or actress. Here is the video I filmed, edited. and captioned in an hour yesterday. It’s not perfect because of the time restrictions but I think it has a strong point.
