The Facundo Element Family recently followed up with folks at ASDB and PDSD. We asked several questions and this is a summary of what we learned:
Regarding the climate & morale at ASDB/PDSD: When staff, students, and community members discovered that the board positions had been filled and Bernhardt Jones was removed from the board, they were filled with hope and new energy. They had also hoped to see news that Robert Hill would be asked to leave as well. Now that some time has passed and students and staff are gone for the summer, a sense of unease and confusion has settled over both of the campuses. Staff are reporting that they continue to feel angry that Robert Hill is still “around.” They are reporting that he continues to be absent from campus and is not available to staff, families, community members. Many report that they continue to fear retaliation from administrators and are worried about what will become of their jobs through the summer and into the fall. Many are looking into applying for jobs outside of the schools and/or are considering early retirement.
