An app designed to truly help deaf people:
This software is designed to solve every deaf person’s number one problem: communicating with hearing people. It’s called Iris and like the iris of our eye, it collects the visual information. Iris stands for Interpretation and Recognition in Sign. A deaf person would be able to sign to their phone using Iris and the program would translate the sign into English or another language out loud for a hearing person to understand. Conversely, a hearing person can speak into Iris and the software will sign or type out the message to the deaf person. It’s convenient in that it is portable and does not require another interpreter to be present. In addition to helping communication, it can also perform tasks on the phone when the commands are signed.
