Gallaudet University Board of Trustees Chair Heather Harker shares an update about the presidential transition and announces a Stakeholder Transition Team. Transcript below.

HELLO.

NOW THAT IT HAS BEEN A COUPLE OF WEEKS SINCE THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ANNOUNCED THE SELECTION OF ROBERTA “BOBBI” CORDANO AS GALLAUDET’S 11TH PRESIDENT, I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THE PLANS THAT ARE UNDERWAY TO EFFECT A SMOOTH TRANSITION TO NEW LEADERSHIP.

FIRST, TO FULLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND DEMONSTRATE OUR APPRECIATION FOR THE YEARS OF SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP DEVOTED TO GALLAUDET BY OUTGOING PRESIDENT HURWITZ, THE TRUSTEES WILL HOST A SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH MATTERS SYMPOSIUM IN HIS HONOR ON FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH. WE ENCOURAGE YOUR ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION AS WE GIVE TRIBUTE TO PRESIDENT HURWITZ FOR ALL THAT HE DID TO ADVANCE GALLAUDET WHILE AT ITS HELM.

SECOND, THE TRUSTEES HAVE ESTABLISHED A STAKEHOLDER TRANSITION TEAM, WHICH WILL MEET WITH PRESIDENT-SELECT CORDANO DURING THE TRANSITION PERIOD BETWEEN NOW AND JANUARY. THE PURPOSE OF THE STAKEHOLDER TRANSITION TEAM WILL BE TO INTRODUCE PRESIDENT-SELECT CORDANO TO THE GALLAUDET COMMUNITY.

THOSE PARTICIPATING ON THE TEAM ARE:

STAKEHOLDER TRANSITION TEAM
• Faculty Senate Chair Khadijat Rashid, Ph.D.
• Provost Carol J. Erting, Ph.D.
• Vice President, Administration and Finance Paul Kelly
• Vice President, Clerc Center Ed Bosso
• Vice President, Institutional Advancement Paul Julin
• SBG President Mary Harman (or designee)
• GSA President Keith Doane (or designee)
• GSC Chair Kojo Amissah, Ph.D.
• Alumni President Alyce Slater Reynolds (or designee)
• BOT Chair Heather Harker
• BOT member Jorge L. Díaz-Herrera, Ph.D.

PRESIDENT-SELECT CORDANO WILL BE MEETING WITH THE STAKEHOLDER TRANSITION TEAM DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER, WHEN SHE WILL BE HERE ON CAMPUS TO PREPARE FOR ASSUMING THE PRESIDENCY ON JANUARY 1, 2016.

THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES DEEPLY APPRECIATES THE COMMUNITY’S INVOLVEMENT THROUGHOUT THE SEARCH AND SELECTION PROCESS. OUR CHOICE WAS MADE THAT MUCH EASIER BECAUSE OF THE THOUGHTFUL INPUT WE RECEIVED FROM SO MANY OF YOU IN THE COMMUNITY.

THANK YOU.
