Natasha Ofili is a first generation African American designer who grew up with strong influences from her mother, an immigrant from Sierra Leone, West Africa. Natasha faced her own personal challenges when at the age of 18 months, she lost her hearing. However her challenges only served as a positive driving force, and with her creative talent and sheer determination, she pursued her dreams in the fashion industry.
In her early days, Natasha worked for a custom bridal design boutique in Beverly Hills where she learned a great deal about construction details, fabrication and quality of bridal/gala gowns. A year later, she applied and was accepted to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising where she earned her degree in Product Development.
Upon graduating from FIDM in 2007, Natasha immediately began working as a Product Development coordinator for BCBG MAXAZRIA where she was responsible for 4 different lines and worked closely with each design team.
Natasha then went on to become a Designer for a children’s wear manufacturing company, located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. She spent 6 years there designing for licensors such as Hello Kitty and Disney for Dillard’s, Kohl’s and Target, Young Men Ecko Unlimited.
During her spare time, she also styled clients for photo shoots and short films, and often helped individuals build their personal wardrobes.
With Natasha’s background in fashion, she has the ability to design almost anything, from high end bridal to hip edgy boys wear. But it is her desire to share her styling and fashion tips to the world, that has introduced her to the world of Fashion blogging.
Nyke Prince began acting and modeling at age seven for bridal ads and television advertisements. She became interested in fashion because her mom worked at a law firm in Beverly Hills so she was always dressed very stylish and professional. She wore matching shoes and beautiful suits. Fashion was big in the 80’s and 90’s. Nyke was born and raised in Los Angeles where there are many well-known stylists and actors. It was not difficult to be part of the business. She decided to attend Vidal Sassoon Academy despite many other choices. Learning to do hair and exhibiting creativity and perfection because a vital part of everyday life in the business. Not only did she learn the techniques of a makeup artist by attending Joe Blasco Make-Up of Hollywood, but grew to master the arts of fashion in life.
She has toured Europe and learned a lot from fashion and make-up in the United Kingdom along with their crazy fringes. She was inspired that she wanted to learn more but she had to stop touring as she was offered a position at Helmet Salon in West Hollywood. She was an assistant and hair stylist but was not satisfied and looked forward to a more challenging position. At the point, she left and started working for a well-known celebrity hair stylist as his personal assistant. This was very challenging as it required travel around the world to places like London and Milan. Nyke’s background entails working on celebrities in preparation for their photo shoots for magazines such as E!, Men’s Health Magazines, PopSugar and many more. She was also featured in “I Am Beautiful”, book by Ken Paves. She has always felt there was more out there than just modeling and doing hair.
Her background in the fashion arena is extends mostly visibility and creativity as she has worked with and has been inspired by many stylists. LA Street Fashion has played a big part and keeping up with magazines such as VOGUE. Instagram and Twitter have been instrumental also. She is extremely inspired by the experience she has acquired by being a part of Los Angeles Fashion industry. She now has a need to express her creativity of fashion in order to share with others independently.
She has been a personal shoppers for many clients, which requires keeping up with the latest trends and putting outfits together for certain events or trips. Through all of this, she has always been interested in playing drums and continues to be into music and performs at small venues.
This blog is her new journey to share with the world… not just make-up and hair but now NN Dups offers FASHION! Nyke, along with her partner, Natasha Ofili, are stepping up their game as the newest fashion bloggers. We would love for you to be a part in sharing this dynamic journey.
