RIT Space Exploration (SPEX) group recovered the payload from their high altitude balloon launch recently, so it seemed a good time to revisit their experimental launch from last semester!
RIT SPEX is working to build a “CubeSat” which they hope will be selected for launch into earth orbit.
The high altitude baloon flight was used to test some of their systems. It rose nearly 100,000 feet before bursting and landing in a tree in a forest in Maine.
The payload, camera and aerial photos we found eventually by a family and returned to RIT.
