Barger ties school record in high jump as MSAD competes at St. Paul Harding

Anthony Barger had a record day as the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf track and field teams competed at St. Paul Harding on Monday.

Barger cleared 6-0 in the high jump, tying the school record shared by Bruce Foile (6-0) and Pat Kuehn (1979). He also set a personal best in the 300-meter hurdles.

Kyrell Cummings won the triple jump at 41-05, and went 19-08 in the long jump to take second, while Junior Peters was fourth at 18-08.

Sam Bondhus ran 11:49 in the 3,200 and the Trojans girls 4×100 relay got to run for the first time. Corrie Ballentine was second in the long jump at 13-01.

Chloe Robinson was second in the girls shot put at 24-01 and Adam Rohde was second in the boys shot put at 39-01.

Tartan won the girls team title with 116 points, with MSAD second with 20 and Harding third with 18. Tartan’s boys won with 92 points, ahead of MSAD’s 48 and Harding’s 30.

MSAD next competes at the Berg/Seeger meet this weekend, hosted by Texas School for the Deaf. The MSAD boys are the defending meet champions.
