Brunswick High School receives 'all clear' following evacuation for air irritant

(Update: 1:25 p.m.)

Brunswick High School students and staff have received the “all clear” from the fire department to re-enter the building, according an email issued by Frederick County Public Schools. The email stated that all students and staff are safe.

Brunswick High School was evacuated Tuesday morning because of an irritant and odor in the air, a school spokesman said.

At approximately 11:50 a.m., the students were evacuated as a precaution, Frederick County Public Schools spokesman Michael Doerrer said.

Doerrer said he was unsure what the irritant was, only that it was not smoke.

Both the Frederick County Division of Fire and Rescue Services and the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office were on scene, Doerrer said.
