North Somerset Council is holding a number of events in support of Deaf Awareness Week, during the first week of May.
These are to highlight the everyday challenges which deaf people are faced with.
Throughout the week, there will be informative displays at the Town Hall in Weston, as well as a chance to discuss any issues regarding hearing, with a number of experts.
From May 3-6, everyone will have the opportunity to visit the Town Hall and learn more about the support services available in the area.
Experts will be available each day from 9.30am-12.30pm and 1.30-4.30pm, including representatives of Action On Hearing Loss – a leading charity – who will be offering free hearing checks.
There will also be free lip-reading taster sessions on May 3 and May 5. However, these will need to be booked in advance. To do so, text Gillian Drenlon on 07482 002303.
