“It’s the semifinals! The end is approaching,” DiMarco tells PEOPLE via his translator. “I can’t believe that I’ve gotten this far. I remember the first week, I questioned myself that I would actually do well and now here I am working twice as hard just to get to this point.”
DiMarco, 27, will dance an Argentine tango with partner Peta Murgatroyd, 29, and has a special treat in store for some deaf audience members who will be in attendance at Monday’s live show.
A section of the audience’s chairs will be equipped with SubPacs, devices that will allow them to actually feel sound across their body.
“I wonder how they are going to react,” says DiMarco. “I tried it myself, and I liked it. I think some deaf people are going to like it.”

But that’s not the only thing special that DiMarco has in store for Monday.
“I’m going to be blindfolded, which means that I’m going to be getting rid of another sense, which just leaves me with three senses,” he says. “It’s definitely going to be difficult but Peta and I have worked so hard to make sure it will be perfect.”
