CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) — Hamilton Relay, Telecommunications Relay and Virginia Relay, the captioned telephone service provider for the state of Virginia, awarded a $500 college scholarship.

The scholarship opportunity is available to high school seniors who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have difficulty speaking.

The scholarship was given to Taylor Thomas-Harris, a student at Matoaca High School from Chesterfield, Virginia.

She plans to attend Longwood University in the fall to study sociology.

“We are excited to have the opportunities to contribute to furthering Taylor’s education and wish her success in reaching her personal and professional goals,” said Frazelle Hampton, Virginia Captioned Telephone Outreach Coordinator.
