Oh! Hi! Sorry, I was just finishing a card. Anyway, welcome to the November 2014 Advocacy Minute. This month I want to talk about gratitude and appreciation. They’re very important concepts for advocacy because people want to feel like their work matters. For example, maybe last year there was a legislator who really supported your bill or your issue. Take this opportunity to tell them thank you. Here are some ideas as to how. First, you could send a letter. That’s simple, right? Second, you could write an article or do a vlog and share online. Third, you could give an award, something small like a certificate. Maybe you could give the award during an event or your conference. It doesn’t matter, it’s up to you. Appreciation costs nothing but really supports your work. That’s your advocacy…what? Oh, you want to see the card? Okay, sure! That’s my card to you! Thank you for your support, your feedback, and for watching! Now, that’s your advocacy minute!
