Jacksonville’s Department of Public Safety held a Community Relations Forum with members of the deaf & hard-of-hearing community on December 2, 2017 at City Hall. The event allowed police and communications staff from the city to answer questions and discuss procedures for interacting with the public, as well as learning from those attending what they can do to improve service and ensure safe interaction with officers.
The event was co-sponsored by the NC Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Wilmington Regional Center and was arranged by Deputy Chief Tim Malfitano and local deaf advocate Gideon Friend, who joined Christina Bauman as moderators for the forum.
