It turns out that when electricity is used is as important as how much electricity is used. This is because fewer people are home to use energy and it is also easier to generate power during the day when solar and wind energy are plentiful.
Simply being mindful of the time of day and adjusting your energy use accordingly makes a difference. Time-of-Use plans throughout the state vary, but all Californians can do their part by adopting energy management practices-particularly during the peak energy use hours of 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Here are a few things you can do to get started:
PIP SCREENSHOT: TURN OFF NON-ESSENTIAL LIGHTING
Indoor and outdoor lighting consumes a significant amount of our electricity.

Pre-cooling or pre-heating your home

Use timers to run electricity-consuming appliances like dishwashers, washing machines, and ovens.

Do household chores and activities during the day (before 4 p.m.) when energy is cheap.

Save energy by charging them at night after the peak hours of 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
