On-screen-text ID: JOHN / NTID CAREER CENTER DIRECTOR

JOHN: It’s important that the person has a clear job search plan: what kind of position are you looking for, where do you want to work – and I don’t mean which company but geographically. Are you looking for a job in the north east, south east, west, or the mid-west? Figure out where you are looking for a job. You don’t want to say “anywhere” because it is too broad. You need to decide which kind of company do you want to work for – a small company, big company, federal agency, or a non-profit organization?

On-screen-text ID: DARIAN / NC DSDHH REGIONAL MANAGER

DARIAN: The first thing deaf people should do when they’re looking for a job is to make sure that job is the right fit for you. People shouldn’t just apply to any random job.

DARIAN: You could get overwhelmed. Apply to jobs that tell you “Yes, this job is for me!”

JOHN: Talk to people. Ask people what do they know about that company. Do they have a positive experience? If they do, how so? Find out if they enjoy working for that company.
