Image description: A white young man is standing in front of a orangish/whitish wall. He is wearing a white T-shirt, grey-ish pants, and a brown belt. He is signing “SPELL.”
Purpose: I created this poem because I wanted a story with a hidden message.
Keywords: identity, think, guess, poetry, letter, art, word, magic, spell
Synopsis: This poem is the ASL equivalent of an acrostic, where the word “Fingerspelling” is broken down into individual words as the speaker asks the audience to guess what it is:
F – find it / essence
I – identify / image
N – label
G – what?
E – think about it
R – ready
S – guess
P – poetry
E – bite poetry and take it down
LL – letters
I – art / draw
N – label
G – word
Then, the speaker says that he/she has cast a fingerspell and asks if you can identify the “-ING” using an antiquated English sign in the same ASL sign for “no longer conforming to an identity”.
SG Mission: to serve our viewers by providing reliable, valuable, and important Deaf community oriented information in every newcast.
