It is important to be aware about attitude because attitude reflects others. Since the term, “Chinese Virus” becomes a negative ripple effect. I would like to show you timeline.

Notice what? Some were ethnic terms. Last time it was stopped using ethnic term was 1970. Hong Kong Flu. Ever since, scientific terms. No more Ethnic. Why is that? Now, “Chinese Virus”–causing trouble. Few vlogs ago, I discussed about hate crimes attacking Asians Americans because of Coronavirus. Click the link below and get better idea.

I had been reading a book, “Less than Human”–not finished yet. It’s 300 pages book. The information in that book is champ. I would like to show you something. [RESIST CARD]. “In 1966, when Gallop surveyed responses to mainland China, the Chinese were seen as “warlike”, “treacherous”, and, being Orientals, “sly”. After President [Richard] Nixon’s visit to China, however, these adjectives disappeared about the Chinese, and they [were]…characterized as “hard-working”, “intelligent”, “artistic,” “progressive” and “practical”–J.D. That’s positive. Compare between Nixon and [Donald] Trump. Nixon: Positive. Trump: Negative.

Old college notes I kept after years and years. I feel it is important to share history facts. I will discuss five facts. A history of Anti-Asian Laws.

1870 Naturalization Act: 14th Amendment any person born/naturalized a U.S. citizen–tries to define process of becoming citizens. Asians were left out.

1882 Chinese Exclusion Act (with extensions until the 1943 Magnuson Act): People from China were expelled from America. Until 1943 Magnuson Act killed the bill.

1913: Alien Land Law: Any person whose is not citizen cannot own property.

1922 Cable Act: Any woman who marries an Asian man loses her citizenship.

1924 Exclusion Act (restrictions extended to all Asians)

That’s the history timeline. 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act was the first bill to expel Asians from America. So, it is important to review history. “Chinese virus” brings back the painful past.
