Louisiana #DeafInPrison update

A DeafDisabled person has been in prison for 45 years.

Our advocates have worked for years to support this person in getting a pardon hearing and prepping the person and their legal team.

The person’s hearing was set for today. The hearing for this person and all others have been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns. No new date set for this person or any others who had clemency/pardon hearings.

This person is elderly and has high medical risk and we are concerned for this person and all other incarcerated people’s health & safety.

Local, state and federal prison systems are not doing enough to protect our imprisoned community members. Organizations across the nation including HEARD have been demanding jails and prisons decrease #COVID19 risks by taking immediate steps to release vulnerable, sick, elderly, disabled people and reduce the spread and danger of COVID-19.

More vlogs and updates coming soon.
