This is breaking news: A significant increase in Coronavirus cases has caused the state to order cities and counties to revert back within the last few days in re-openings of various activities.
Governor Newsom at the press conference today ordered 31 counties, which are placed under the state’s watch list, to close indoor activities. The 31 counties represent approximately 80% of California’s total population. Additional counties will be added in the next few days. Here are the following businesses that are closed statewide:
Bars, both indoor and outdoor
Restaurants are to cease indoor dining rooms
Indoor Wineries/tasting rooms
Family entertainment centers
Businesses on the watch list have to close indoor operations such as:
Houses of worships
Nail salons/barber shops
Other personal care services
Office-based businesses that do not deal with customers directly
Outdoor dining in some counties are allowed; however, some restaurants are restricted to only takeout orders and deliveries. Takeout orders are allowed statewide. We suggest that you check online business directories such as Yelp or Google to see which restaurants are open for takeout only or offer both deliveries and takeout. It would be best to call them directly.
The Governor recognizes that many people need to go outdoors due to the rising temperatures however many people aren’t practicing social distancing and limiting the number of gatherings with people outside of their households. The Governor urges you to limit gatherings to people within the same household, which means ONLY the people living in the same place as you, such as family or roommates.
Since July 12th, over 20 people have died and over 5,000 more people have tested positive.
As of today, July 13th, 2020, seven countries on the watch list, fall under DCARA’s service areas:
Even though San Francisco already paused the reopening of most businesses, San Francisco isn’t on the watch list yet. Please continue to check your city/county for frequent updates as things may change.
Also, if you are thinking about making summer vacation plans, some states may require you to self-quarantine for two weeks upon arrival. Be sure to check with that state you plan to travel to in advance when you make reservations.
The Governor stressed that until there is a cure, we have to work together to slow down the spread of COVID-19 which may be a long time. Californians must be willing to learn to change their daily behaviors if we want to defeat this virus and resume a normal life.
