JENNY: A resolution is a main motion. A main motion is offered as a resolution due to its importance, length, or complexity. The focus of the resolution is the Resolved sentences. Delegates are voting on the resolution based on what is being resolved. After it is read, the member offers their resolution by saying, “I move to adopt the resolution 2012-RES-003”. The President will then put the resolution to vote. Like main motions, resolutions can be debated, amended and requires a majority vote. The following is an example resolution:

Conference code number.

Whereas, the delegates requested for red shirts for delegates at the COR at the 2018 NAD biennial conference.

Whereas, the NAD purchased red shirts for delegates to wear during COR at the 2020 NAD biennial conference.

Whereas, the members at the 2020 NAD biennial conference were able to identify who the delegates were, as they wore their red shirts provided by the NAD.

Resolved, the delegates appreciate and thank the NAD for purchasing the red shirts for the delegates for use at the COR.

Resolved, the NAD will continue to provide red shirts for delegates at its biennial conference for the purpose of the COR.
