Hello! We’re nearing a crucially important election in the U.S.Election results will have a far-reaching impact on youth, families, and children.

Here at DCARA we strongly support youth voting rights including your right to accurate information and full participation in the political process. Here at DCARA we are deeply honored to host a Deaf youth-led event, “#WhyWeVote”.

The event will be a discussion between two groups: A group of Deaf adult leaders, activists, and artists and and Deaf youth leaders from here in Northern California. The first group includes: Melissa Draganac-Hawk, President of NAD, Zahna Simon, a professional dancer, choreographer with strong academic and professional background in science, and finally we have Nicholas Sanchez, voting rights activist. In our second group will have two phenomenal youth leaders from here in California: Reza J. Mosher, representing California School for the Deaf, Fremont, and Jennifer Homberg, representing Ohlone College. The event will be Saturday, October 17th, from 3:30-5 PM Pacific Time.

You can watch in one of two ways: YouTube or Facebook Live. I sincerely hope you can make it. If you have Deaf youth in your life please encourage them to come and encourage them to vote.#WhyWeVote.

Seriously?! Seriously! Guess what I just found out?! We have one final Deaf leader joining us tomorrow: Joseph Lewis, Election Correspondent for the Daily Moth! See you tomorrow!
