HEARD is excited to announce our Spring 2021 Community Education Series!
Over the next few months, we invite the community to join us in deepening our understanding of how the prison industrial complex (PIC) impacts deaf/disabled people and how our community can support each other.
On every 3rd Saturday of the month from 11 AM – 1PM PST / 2 – 4 PM EST, HEARD will host a webinar on a different topic.
The first event is this Saturday, February 20th. HEARD advocates and members of the HEARD Public Education Team will discuss the Legal, Medical, & Prison Systems’ Impacts on Disabled/Deaf People.
Feb 20 – The Legal, Medical, & Prison Systems’ Impacts on Disabled/Deaf People
March 20 – Advocating with and for Imprisoned disabled/deaf people
April 17 – Mutual Aid for Currently and Formerly Incarcerated Disabled/Deaf People
May 15 – Are Interpreting/Access Industries Increasing Incarceration Rates?
All events will be presented in ASL and English with Spanish/English/ASL interpretation, Deaf Interpreters, & Live English Captioning.
We are excited to learn together. We hope you’ll join us!

By the way, HEARD is celebrating its 10th anniversary this week! In honor of 10 years, it’s our goal to raise $10,000. These funds will go directly toward mutual aid for currently and formerly deaf/disabled incarcerated people and their loved ones to access counseling, commissary, telecommunications, legal services, and the many needs that arise as folks reenter the community outside of carceral facilities.
