[Cast Iron Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe]
2 cups Flour
¼ cup Flour for kneading
1 tsp Baking powder
½ tsp Salt
1 tsp Sugar
¼ cup Frozen Butter and 1 tsp for cast iron baking
1 cup Buttermilk
1 tsp Mayonnaise
Place butter in the freezer at least a half hour before you start to bake with cast iron.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and add lightly oiled on the cast iron.
Next, take frozen butter and with a grater, grate the butter into the dry ingredients.
Slowly pour buttermilk into dry ingredients and begin hand mixing your dough. Add some flour as needed until the dough ball forms.
Bring the dough to a lightly floured surface on parchment and knead dough for 15-20 seconds.
Separate from the dough ball form 4 to 6 sections.
Remove hot iron cast from the oven and use remaining butter to heat and coat the cast iron. Place biscuits into cast iron and leave no space in between; you don’t have to do it perfectly.
Take your egg as well as mayo and brush the top and sides with the mixture.
Bake for 25-35 minutes depending on the oven and preferred brownness.
