Hello. You probably received a letter in the mail that looks like this.
(in top right: red, blue, and white text box with “California Gubernational Recall Election Tuesday, September 14, 2021. All Voters Will be Mailed a Ballot.”)
What is it for? It’s a ballot to recall Governor Gavin Newsom.
(in top right: image of ballot paper showing “Yes” and “No”)
To recall means to remove him.
The recall ballot will give two choices. Keep, or remove? You can pick one of these options: No or Yes.
(In top right: image with red X “NO = Keep Governor Gavin Newsom”)
A NO vote means to keep Governor Newsom in office.
(In top right: image with green check “YES = Remove Governor Gavin Newsom with another person”)
Voting YES means to remove Newsom, and replace with another candidate.
Again, voting NO means keep. Voting YES means remove.
(In top right: list “Mail, Official Ballot Drop Box, Polling Location”)
Once you finish voting, what you can do is mail the ballot, or put in an official ballot drop box like this. There are several locations. Or you can go to an official polling location and vote there.
