Hi,

My name is Jeremy Quiroga. I am the Region V Representative for RID. Before we get into the business of the town hall plans, the board and I want to share with you some thoughts that we have had as we have taken on our work. Our discussions center around re-orienting the narrative as it relates to recent incidents. We agree the best way to understand our recent past is through a metaphorical lens of ASL poetry, and we share that with you now.

In our shared history, our communities have worked together to build places of belonging. We have experienced shared traumas that have changed us. These experiences also give us seeds of change and growth that deepen our understanding. It is important to note that all are welcome to participate in planting new seeds, and in working together, recreate a new community of all of us.

We are hosting a Town Hall on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 8-10 p.m. Eastern (5-7 Pacific). Please join us.

Please keep in mind that we will not disregard the work of those that have come before us. We acknowledge that much has happened, and we want to break the cycle. The Town Hall is a time for us to acknowledge our past, and at the same time, collectively heal. You are welcome to join us to discuss how we can move forward.

Thank you,

Jeremy Quiroga
Region V Representative
