RIT is delivering hope and lifesaving medical care to critically ill newborns in remote regions of Honduras. The design for good initiative—RIT Hope for Honduras—was an interdisciplinary student project led by RIT’s Interior Design program. RIT collaborated with companies and non-profit organizations to design and build a custom mobile neonatal transport ambulance capable of navigating through mountainous areas to Hospital Escuela—the largest public hospital in the capital city of Tegucigalpa. RIT partners included Global Medical Response, Cruz Roja Hondureña, Hospital Escuela, and Little Angels of Honduras. Additional footage provided by Boris Shirman ’19, photojournalism option (photographic and imaging arts BFA), and Tom Hussey ’94, MFA (photography).
